Call for Applications: Join the Editorial Board of PAMJ-One Health

The Pan African Medical Journal – One Health (PAMJ-OH) is inviting applications from experienced professionals to join its Editorial Board.
PAMJ-One Health is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the science, policy, and practice of the One Health approach in Africa and globally. The journal publishes high-quality research and scholarly work on the interconnected health of humans, animals, and the environment, with particular emphasis on zoonotic diseases, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, environmental and ecosystem health, climate change, veterinary public health, pandemic preparedness, health security, surveillance, implementation research, and One Health policy and governance.
As part of the expansion of the journal, we are seeking committed experts to strengthen our Editorial Board. We welcome applications from professionals with expertise in areas including, but not limited to:

Editorial Board Members are expected to:
- Provide scientific and strategic guidance to support the journal’s mission, editorial policies, and long-term development.
- Handle at least approximately one manuscript per month within their area of expertise by overseeing the peer-review process, selecting reviewers, evaluating reviewer reports, and making editorial recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief.
- Recommend qualified peer reviewers and contribute to expanding and strengthening the journals reviewer database.
- Respond promptly, when solicitated, to editorial assignments, including non-availability.
- Promote the journal within their professional networks by encouraging the submission of high-quality manuscripts and recommending qualified authors, reviewers, and guest editors.
- Contribute to the journal’s strategic development by identifying emerging research priorities, proposing special issues or thematic series, and participating in periodic Editorial Board consultations and meetings (typically 1–2 virtual meetings per year).
Eligibility
Applicants should have:
- A doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DVM, DrPH, or equivalent) or significant professional experience in a relevant discipline.
- An established publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience as a peer reviewer and, preferably, previous editorial experience.
- A commitment to scientific excellence, publication ethics, and timely manuscript handling.
Please note: Editorial Board membership is a voluntary, pro bono appointment. No financial remuneration is provided. Members contribute their expertise in support of advancing scientific publishing and strengthening One Health research and practice in Africa and globally.
